Ethiopia Country Manager

An Ethiopian national, Dr Kebede received a Doctor of Philosophy (University of Graz, Austria) and has a Bachelor of Science, Geology, from Addis Abba University. He has over 20 years experience working as a geologist within Ethiopia including holding senior positions with the Ministry of Water Resources and the Geological Survey of Ethiopia. He has been the senior geologist on the Tulu Kapi project for a number of years.

Patrick Goodfellow

Chief Operating Officer in Ethiopia

Patrick Goodfellow joined Nyota in Jan 2012 and is resident in Addis Ababa. He has undertaken roles in both operations and resource development projects for over 30 years in Gold ,copper, uranium, coal and nickel. He has worked in Ghana, PNG, Laos, Indonesia, Nauru, the Philippines and Australia. Before mining he was in railways and management Services. His background is in Civil Engineering and Industrial Engineering.
 
Channa Pelpola

Channa Pelpola

Manager, Environment and Community Affairs

Channa Pelpola (M.Sc, P.Geo) joined Nyota Minerals Limited in July 2010, as Manager of Environment and Community Affairs, bringing over 16 years of environmental assessment experience to the company. Previous project experience includes the Yukon Zinc Mine (Yukon), Eagle Gold Mine (Yukon), Taseko Mine (BC), Regional Oil Sands Programs (Alberta), Tassawini Gold Project (Guyana), and the Enbridge Northern Gateway Pipeline Project (Alberta/BC). Channa holds an Honours Degree in Environmental Science from Carleton University, Ottawa, and a Masters Degree in Fluvial Geomorphology from Simon Fraser University, Burnaby. Channa is a registered Professional Geoscientist with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia.
 
Dyonn Hage

Dyonn Hage

Exploration Manager

Dyonn Hage, an exploration geologist of 22 years experience, was appointed as Regional Manager in April 2011, and Exploration Manager in November 2011. His career has spanned base metal, gold, uranium and diamond exploration.  He has managed exploration projects in Angola, the DRC, Chad, Niger, Namibia and South Africa. He is registered with the South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions (SACNSP).

Barry Want

Group Projects Manager

Barry Want (B.Tech.Hons. Chem.Eng.) has over 35 years experience in the mining industry throughout Central and Southern Africa and exposure to projects in the USA, Europe and Australia.

Barry has worked for Anglo American, Mintek and Bateman Engineering, progressing mine plants from research & development to operation, leading engineering design, and overall project management. In 1983 he started his own projects company which was responsible for the construction of several successful turnkey gold recovery plants in Southern Africa. Barry has consulted on various metallurgical projects prior to joining Nyota in April 2011.
 
Dean Platts

Zsolt Molnar

Resource Manager

Zsolt Molnar holds a BASc Honours Degree (Geological Engineering) from the University of Waterloo in Canada. He has been involved with a number of exploration projects including a joint venture with Newmont in Guyana, and underground and open pit operations with Falconbridge and Teck Coal in Canada. Zsolt joined Nyota Minerals Ltd. in October 2010 to head the geotechnical program and is currently the Resource Manager at Tulu Kapi.

Tulu Kapi Camp Manager

Dean Platts is a Security Consultant at Page Group Ltd, an international private security and investigation company. He has been contracted to Nyota Minerals Limited since August 2011, as the Camp Manager of the Tulu Kapi Project. Dean has over 20 years of logistical and security experience. His previous experience includes managing numerous high profile security projects in Nigeria, India, Pakistan and the Middle East.
